Volunteer of the Month: Mark Davison (Charlestownr DCC)

The Newcastle District Cricket Association (NDCA) is proud to congratulate Mark Davison from Charlestown District Cricket Club on being named the Beyond Bank Volunteer of the Month for February. This recognition reflects Mark’s outstanding contribution as the Food and Beverage Manager at Charlestown District Cricket Club and the positive impact he has on the club and its events.

Mark has shown exceptional dedication in ensuring the club canteen runs smoothly and remains well stocked for club matches, representative fixtures, touring teams and social events. It is an important role within any club, helping enhance the overall experience for both players and spectators who attend Kahibah Oval.

Among Mark’s many contributions, he regularly ensures the canteen is stocked with a wide range of refreshments so attendees can enjoy an ice-cold drink while watching quality cricket. He also takes on the demanding role of head barbecue cook at events, maintaining strict “quality control” – including the occasional taste test – to ensure the food served is of the highest standard.

Mark carefully manages food supplies so there are always plenty of steaks and sausage sandwiches available for games and events. One of his standout efforts was coordinating catering for the National Under 19 Women’s Carnival, providing lunch and all-day snacks for 44 participants while accommodating a range of dietary requirements.

Through careful planning, hard work and a great sense of humour, Mark helps ensure that Kahibah Oval is not just a place to play cricket, but a great place to watch and enjoy the game.

The NDCA extends its sincere congratulations to Mark on this well-deserved recognition and thanks Beyond Bank for their continued support in celebrating the volunteers who make community cricket possible.
