A brilliant unbeaten half-century from Julia Corder guided Charlestown Plate (White) to a thrilling five-wicket victory over Warners Bay (Maroon) in the Women’s T20 Plate Grand Final at No.1 Sportsground.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Charlestown delivered a disciplined performance in the field to restrict Warners Bay to 3/95 from their 20 overs.
Warners Bay built their innings steadily, with Kirra Smith (25 retired not out) and Chelsea Veney (15) laying the early foundation. Rebecca Moore added 10, while Aaliyah Hiskens finished unbeaten on 16 as Warners Bay closed on a competitive total.
Charlestown’s bowlers maintained excellent control throughout the innings. Marla Romiti led the attack with an economical spell of 1/11 from four overs, while Lacie Edwards-Gallagher (1/13) claimed another wicket to keep the scoring in check.
Chasing 96 for victory, Charlestown lost early wickets but found stability through a superb innings from Julia Corder. Displaying patience and composure under finals pressure, Corder struck 52 not out from 52 balls, including six boundaries, to anchor the run chase.
She received support from Lacie Edwards-Gallagher (11) and Amanda (Amy) Seskin, while Maddison Chicken (4)* remained unbeaten at the finish as Charlestown reached 5/96 in 18.4 overs to secure the title.
Warners Bay battled strongly with the ball, with Chelsea Veney (2/21), Jasmine Wellings (1/15) and Aaliyah Hiskens (1/18) among the wickets, but Corder’s calm presence proved the difference.
For her outstanding unbeaten half-century in the Grand Final, Julia Corder was deservedly named Player of the Final, sealing a memorable victory for Charlestown Plate (White).
