Everett Six Sets Up Lions Victory in City of Newcastle Summer Bash

A devastating bowling performance from Joseph Everett helped the Lions secure a six-wicket win over the Tigers in their City of Newcastle Summer Bash clash at No.1 Sportsground.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Tigers struggled to build sustained partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 99 in 19 overs. Callum Gabriel led the resistance with 34, while Baylee Borrow added 20 as the Tigers attempted to push their total towards three figures.

Everett made his impact at both ends of the innings, striking early to put the Tigers under pressure before returning late to dismantle the lower order. The Lions quick finished with a remarkable 6/24 from four overs, consistently halting the Tigers’ attempts to rebuild. His outstanding spell earned him the Rippit Player of the Match honours.

Everett was well supported by Thomas Owen (2/17) and Sam O’Sullivan, as the Lions maintained pressure throughout the innings.

Chasing 100 for victory, the Lions suffered an early blow with Sam Holding dismissed in the opening over, but the chase was calmly controlled from there.

Harry Price produced a superb unbeaten 49, anchoring the innings with composure, while Mitchell Hearn provided steady support with 30 not out. The pair combined in a match-winning partnership that guided the Lions to 4/100 in 17.4 overs, sealing victory with more than two overs to spare.

For the Tigers, Jacob Page led from the front with the ball, claiming 3/13 from four overs, but the Lions’ composed batting effort proved too strong.

In the end, Everett’s brilliant six-wicket haul laid the platform, while Price and Hearn finished the job to give the Lions a well-earned Summer Bash victory.
